The Legend Behind Amarnath Cave

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva chose this cave to reveal the secret of immortality (Amar Katha) to Goddess Parvati. The cave is surrounded by snow-clad peaks and stands at an altitude of approximately 3,888 meters. The arduous trek to the cave tests both physical endurance and spiritual resolve, making the pilgrimage even more rewarding.

 

The Trekking Routes

Devotees can reach the Amarnath cave via two routes: the traditional 46-kilometer route from Pahalgam and the shorter but steeper 14-kilometer route from Baltal. The journey is challenging, with high altitudes and unpredictable weather, but pilgrims are rewarded with mesmerizing views of the snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and pristine landscapes.
